Welcome to Hodgeman County! We are home to some of the best Hunting Opportunities in the United States and we're so glad you're coming here to hunt! Make sure and stop by JJ's Sports Bar to have your photo taken at our Hunt Hodgeman Mural!
Ten years ago Casey Fitzgerald wanted to honor the memory of his Dad, an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and started the Haskell Pack, Jr Memorial Longest Tailfeather Contest. To begin with, it was just in Hodgeman County, but has now grown to include Ford County as well. The contest includes a lifetime Hunting License for the winner of the youth division and an engraved Mossberg 500 for the adult division winner. The contest runs through Kansas Hunting Season -- Nov 13 -January 31st and culminates with an annual Banquet. i You can find the Official Contest Rules link at the bottom of this page...and the drop off locations are immediately below.

Dodge City, Garden City, Hugoton, Jetmore, Liberal, Cimarron, & Elkhart Kansas (Ford, Finney, Stevens, Hodgeman, Seward, Grant, Gray, & Morton Counties) are pleased to announce the 6th annual pheasant hunting contest.
During this year’s hunting season, 600 pheasants will be banded on the leg and released in Ford County near Dodge City, in Finney County near Garden City, in Stevens County near Hugoton, in Hodgeman County near Jetmore, in Seward County near Liberal, in Gray County near Cimarron, and in Morton County near Elkhart. If you are lucky enough to bag one of the banded pheasants, bring your leg band to one of the approved locations to register your leg band and claim your prize!
Kansas consistently ranks as one of the top three when compared to other states’ annual harvest of pheasants. With 185,000 acres of walk in hunting land, that is open to hunters in southwest Kansas, this area will give you a shot at cash and Seven GRAND PRIZES.
Once you register the leg band at an approved location (listed below), you will automatically receive a “Rooster Roundup” hat and a community gift worth at least $10.00.
Rules & Regulations
In Hodgeman County, we ask you to call Lea Ann Seiler at 620.357.5561 when you shoot a banded bird. If you're still nearby, she'll get your hat and $10 prize to you on the spot, as well as getting your documentation to enter you into the Grand Prize Drawing for $500 Hodgeman Bucks! If you've already left the area, she will accept texted photos of your band number, hunting license, etc. and will mail your prizes to you. (Please keep your band and do not send them in the mail. They tend to tear through envelopes and do not arrive....a picture will be fine!)
From time to time we list Additional Information for our Hunting Friends here!
