Elk Plaza Business & Culinary Incubator

Located at 203 N. West Street in Hanston, KS  67849.

The Elk Plaza Community Center, Business and Culinary Incubator is an amazing place!  Once a High School, it now serves the Community in a variety of ways.  The City of Hanston offices, Little Tracks Pre-School, and a number of businesses now call these hallowed halls home.  The former Home-Ec room and Concession Stand is utilized as a Licensed Culinary Incubator, and the community uses the property for an assortment of uses, including camps, exercise groups, and youth group meeting space.  In addition to on-site mail boxes, break room equipment (coffee pot, microwave, and refrigerator), and conference meeting room, occupants and community members also have access to the new "Circuit style" exercise equipment.

Our Maker Space!

  • So MANY generous gifts  have allowed us to develop a new Maker Space for innovators and makers of all ages in Hodgeman County. We have purchased  equipment and have hosted numerous Maker Camps over the past two summers, and NOW we are ready to offer a permanent schedule so people of all ages have access to the Maker Space.  Our NEW Boss Laser Engraver has arrived and  we'll soon be ready for everyone to learn how to use it.  We are all BORN MAKERS!

Contact Information

There are several numbers for you to contact for Elk Plaza.  Michelle Walters can be contacted to reserve locations for events at 620.623.0108; Lon Ruff can be contacted at 620.623.0123 for rental space; and Lea Ann Seiler can be contacted for questions about the Culinary Incubator or Maker Space at 620.357.5561 or by emailing hodgeman1@unitedwireless.com.

History...How did a tiny town get an AWESOME SPACE like this???

In 2010, the two Unified School Districts in Hodgeman County consolidated and this building was left empty.  The School Board, Marena Township and community members had the foresight to turn the property into a Community and Business Center.  In 2015 the Culinary Incubator was added.  And now, in 2020...we have added the Maker Space!  Yes....I guess we are kinda cool!

Hodgeman Community Foundation

Keep 5 in Kansas!

The concept is simple: By remembering your community in your legacy — by leaving just 5% of your estate to your local community foundation — you will help ensure your community’s future.

Go HERE to learn more!

1)  How do I get involved?

Simply contact any Foundation Member....or call the Economic Development office at 620.357.8831 and we will provide you with more information and the date of the next meeting!

2)  How can I make a Difference?

There are lots of ways to make a difference!  By giving your charitable donations through the Foundation, you may have a tax deduction and we can help you specify your gift towards an area you or your loved ones are passionate about....or to the general account to be used as needs arise.

3) Is this a LOCAL Foundation?  How can I make sure that my gift stays local and does the most good?

The Hodgeman Community Foundation is a local Foundation with a local Board. However, we have partnered with the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas to be able to provide our donors with the best interest rates and legal services available. We are also proud members of the Kansas Association of Community Foundations.
